5 proven ways to get in front of your dream coaching clients
Hey there,
There’s one question I hear every coach ask me — no matter how much experience they have.
How do you find clients?
New coaches often don’t understand — this is THE crux of your business. You either find clients and you make money…
…or you don’t.
So let’s get super practical. And talk about how you can find clients. Whether you’re just starting out or are an established coach in your niche.
1. Leverage Your Existing Network
This is ground zero for finding clients.
But you should never stop doing it.
Don't underestimate the power of your current connections.
Your friends, family, and acquaintances know people who would work with you.
Make a list of 20 people you know who might benefit from your coaching or could introduce you to someone who would.
Reach out to them with this message…
“Hey! How are you? I have a few coaching slots open for the next few months. Do you know anyone who might be interested? I can help them (or you!) with…
[practical thing]
[practical thing]
[practical thing]”
2. Create Valuable Content Consistently
Content is king. You don’t need ads.
You can literally build a profitable coaching business by just posting every day on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram.
Choose a platform. Be consistent. Post daily for the next 30 days and there’s a damn good chance you’re going to find a new client.
Share stories, tips, and value related to your coaching niche. And focus on addressing your ideal clients' pain points and desires.
Don't just post and ghost.
Engaging with others in your niche can dramatically increase your visibility and attract potential clients.
Stop scrolling.
Spend that time commenting thoughtfully on posts from potential clients, peers, and influencers in your space. Aim to add value, not just self-promote.
4. Build an Organic Content Funnel
Create a journey that naturally leads your audience from free content to your paid coaching offers. This could look like:
Social media content → Free lead magnet → Email nurture sequence → Discovery call → Coaching program
Map out your content funnel and identify any gaps.
What free resource could you create to capture leads? How can you nurture them via email?
Think about the experience. Not just the sale.
5. Leverage Your Existing Clients
Your current and past clients are a goldmine.
They've experienced your value firsthand and can be your best advocates.
Here's how to tap into this resource:
Ask for referrals: Don't be shy about asking satisfied clients if they know anyone who could benefit from your coaching. Make it easy for them by providing a simple referral template.
Collect testimonials: Regular, glowing testimonials can be powerful social proof. Use them in your marketing materials, website, and social media posts.
Create a referral program: Offer incentives (like discounts on future sessions or exclusive content) for clients who refer new business to you.
Showcase success stories: With permission, share detailed case studies of client transformations. This demonstrates your impact and attracts similar clients.
Host a "bring a friend" session: Occasionally, invite clients to bring a friend to a group coaching session for free. It's a low-pressure way for potential clients to experience your coaching.
Here's a template for asking for referrals:
“Hi [Client Name],
I hope you're doing well and still seeing great results from our work together! I wanted to reach out because you've been such a fantastic client to work with.
I'm currently looking to take on a few new clients who are [describe ideal client, e.g., "ambitious professionals looking to advance their careers"]. Given the progress you've made, I thought you might know others who could benefit from similar support.
If anyone comes to mind, would you be comfortable introducing us? I'd be happy to offer them a complimentary strategy session.
As a thank you for any referrals, I'd love to offer you [incentive, e.g., "a free coaching session" or "access to my new exclusive workshop"].”
Getting in front of your dream clients is all about providing value, building relationships, and positioning yourself as the go-to expert in your niche.
It's not about aggressive sales tactics or spammy outreach.
Choose two strategies from this list and implement them consistently for the next 7 days. Track your results and adjust as needed.
I'd love to hear which strategies you're going to try! Reply to this email and let me know.
Here's to your coaching success,
Kavit
